NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR PROVINCIAL NOMINEE PROGRAM (NLPNP)

Since its inception in 1999, the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) has been in existence. One of the earliest PNPs to go live was it. The NLPNP draws professionals, business owners, and graduates from outside who have the qualifications, background, and education needed to flourish in the Atlantic province.



NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR IMMIGRATION STREAMS

There are nine options you can take if you want to immigrate to Saskatchewan :

  • Express Entry Skilled Worker for Newfoundland and Labrador;
  • Skilled Worker Category;
  • International Graduate Category;
  • International Entrepreneur Category;
  • International Graduate Entrepreneur Category.

The Newfoundland and Labrador Express Entry Skilled Worker programme is for skilled employees who have an express entry profile and a job offer.

For skilled employees who have a job offer from a Newfoundland and Labrador firm, there is a category called "Skilled Worker." This covers employees who have a valid work permit and are currently residing in the province.

Recent international graduates with a job or a job offer from a Newfoundland and Labrador firm are eligible for the international graduate category if they are in Canada on a post-graduation work permit.

Foreign nationals who wish to relocate to Newfoundland and Labrador and establish, co-manage, or acquire a business there may apply under the International Entrepreneur Category. Before requesting a provincial nomination, you must have been running your firm on a Temporary Work Permit for a full year.

The International Graduate Entrepreneur Category is for foreign graduates of post-secondary institutions in Newfoundland and Labrador who intend to start, co-own, or manage a business in the territory with a view to obtaining permanent residency in Canada



Newfoundland and Labrador Express Entry Skilled Worker

Minimum Requirements :

  • A full-time job or job offer from a Newfoundland and Labrador business is required, as is having an Express Entry profile (NOC level 0, A or B)
  • Must possess a current work permit or be able to obtain one;
  • If necessary, you must be eligible for provincial licence or certification.
  • You must also demonstrate a sincere desire to live in the province and meet the minimal language criteria.
  • You must possess a post-secondary degree or diploma.
  • Must have a PNP points assessment score of at least 67;
  • Must have enough money to support yourself and your family in the province;
  • Your employer must adhere to specific standards.



Skilled Worker Category

Processing Time : 25 business days

Minimum Requirements :

  • For at least two years, you must have a full-time work or a job offer from an employer in Newfoundland and Labrador.
  • The applicant must meet the following requirements :
  • Must meet the minimum language requirements;
  • Must have the necessary education, training, and experience for the position;
  • Must have a valid work permit with at least four months remaining on it;
  • Must have the necessary experience for the position;
  • Must have enough money to settle in the province.



International Graduate Category

Needs job offer ? : Yes

Application Fee : No Fee

Processing Time : 25 business days

Minimum Requirements :

  • Must have graduated from an accredited college or university in Canada after completing at least half of your studies there;
  • Must have successfully completed at least a two-year diploma or degree programme (full-time);
  • Must hold an IRCC Post-Graduation Work Permit;
  • Must have a full-time work offer from an eligible business in Newfoundland and Labrador;
  • Must meet the minimal language criteria;
  • Must possess the education, experience, training, and/or certification required for the position;
  • Must have sufficient funds to settle in Newfoundland and Labrador.



International Entrepreneur Category

Application Fee : CAD $1,000

Processing Time : Depends on the time required for document verification.

Minimum Requirements :

  • Must be between the ages of 21 and 59;
  • Must meet language requirements in either English or French;
  • Must possess net personal and company assets totalling CAD $600,000.
  • Must receive an evaluation score of at least 72 out of 120 on the Expression of Interest (EOI) grid;
  • Must be able to invest at least CAD $200,000 (or CAD $1 million in equity) to start a business with a 33.3 percent ownership;
  • Must have at least a high school diploma;
  • Must intend to live permanently in Newfoundland and Labrador;
  • Must create at least one full-time job for Canadian citizens or permanent residents;
  • Must demonstrate that the business will create at least one full-time job for Canadian citizens or permanent residents.
  • Must have at least two years of experience actively managing or owning a business in the last five years, or five years of experience in a senior business management role in the last ten years.

If you are buying or launching a business, you might need to satisfy additional requirements. Additionally, your business must meet specific requirements.



International Graduate Entrepreneur Category

Application Fee : CAD $250

Processing Time : Depends on the time required for document verification.

Minimum Requirements :

  • Must be at least 21 years old;
  • Must submit a business continuity plan with supporting financial records;
  • Must have completed a program of at least two years duration at Memorial University or College of the North Atlantic within the previous two years;
  • Must possess a current post-graduate work permit;
  • The following criteria must be met:
  • Must have at least one year of management experience in a business where they own at least one third of the provincial ownership;
  • Must create at least one full-time job for Canadian citizens or permanent residents;
  • Must demonstrate that the business is for-profit.
