Migrate / Canada / Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) / Ontario
Through this program, potential immigrants who possess the qualifications and experience sought after by the province may be given a provincial nomination by Ontario, following which they can submit an application to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada for permanent residence in Canada (IRCC).
Launched in 2007, the Ontario PNP was formally known as the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). The OINP's key goals are to address talent shortages in priority industries, make it simpler to invest in Ontario, and ensure that immigrants can successfully settle and integrate into the province. The Ontario PNP was initially only permitted to nominate up to 1,000 newcomers. Currently, Ontario nominates 8,000 immigrants annually.
